Who we are
Television that behaves itself
Castonex exists because Australian households were paying three subscriptions to watch two things, and still missing the match.
Home/About
Our story
Started in a Melbourne lounge room, mid-argument
The founding complaint was mundane. A household in Brunswick held a pay-TV contract for the football, a streaming subscription for the drama, and a second streaming subscription because the children’s programming had moved. Three invoices, three remotes, three apps that each insisted on their own login — and the Friday-night fixture still froze at the worst moment.
Castonex was assembled to collapse that mess into one line item. Not by cutting the catalogue back, but by carrying all of it: every Australian metro and regional feed, the British and American networks, the European leagues, the kids’ shelf and a 120,000-title on-demand vault, delivered through one application on one screen.
We are a small operation and we intend to stay that way. The people who answer your support message are the same people who provision your line — there is no outsourced first tier reading from a script.
What we stand on
Four commitments we will not trade away
Stability before scale
A 20 Gbps delivery core spread across multiple locations, holding 99.9% measured uptime. We would rather add capacity ahead of demand than apologise after a dropped grand final.
One app, properly supported
We support IBO Player exclusively. That is a deliberate constraint — it means our instructions match your screen exactly instead of approximating across five half-documented alternatives.
Plain answers
One device per subscription. Seven days to change your mind. No auto-renewal. We would rather lose an order than win one on a misunderstanding and refund it a week later.
Built around the local calendar
AFL, NRL, the cricket summer, the spring carnival and the Australian Open drive our capacity planning. Regional metro splits are carried separately so your local bulletin is actually local.
By the numbers
What the service actually carries
Figures below are current and move as broadcasters add and retire feeds. We publish them because vague claims help nobody.
How we run the network
Anti-freeze is engineering, not marketing
Buffering is a queuing problem. Our delivery layer prioritises packets by stream type, controls fragmentation and manages delay continuously across the server fleet rather than leaving it to chance during peak load.
In practice that means the picture holds through the 7pm AEDT crush when half the eastern seaboard switches on at once. When a primary feed does drop, backup transmissions take over — and when a specific connection consistently struggles, we move that line to a different node rather than telling the customer to upgrade their internet.
- Multi-location server fleet with automatic failover
- Packet prioritisation tuned per stream type
- Capacity added ahead of the sporting calendar, not after it
- Per-line node reassignment when a connection needs it
The technical detail that matters to you day to day is covered in the setup guide, and the FAQ answers the connection questions we hear most.
Where we sit legally
Castonex supplies access to streaming infrastructure. We do not own, produce, broadcast or host the programming that passes across it, and we hold no broadcast rights of our own. Content originates with third-party providers and is delivered to subscribers over the open internet.
Rights holders who believe material carried on our infrastructure infringes their copyright should follow the procedure on our DMCA page, which sets out exactly what a valid notice requires and how quickly we act on one. Our obligations to subscribers, and theirs to us, are set out in the terms of service.
Where to find us
Our registered correspondence address is Level 12, 200 Queen Street, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia. Support runs through email and WhatsApp rather than a phone queue — it gives our technicians a written record of what you have already tried, which shortens most conversations considerably.
Reach the desk through the contact page, or read the reseller programme details if you are looking to sell rather than subscribe.
See whether it suits your household
The intro month is A$12.99 and opens the complete service. No auto-renewal, no lock-in.
